Website vs. Social Media: Why Your Business Needs Both
Published October 27, 2026 · By N&B Web Studio
The debate is framed as either/or, but the two channels fail in opposite ways when used alone. Social without a site has nowhere to send demand. A site without social has no distribution.
What each channel is genuinely good at
Social is good at reach, personality, and staying visible to people who already follow you. It is a discovery and relationship channel.
A website is good at detail, comparison, and action: services, pricing, portfolios, forms, bookings, and checkout. It is a conversion channel.
Why a feed cannot replace a site
Feeds are chronological. The post that explained your services six months ago is effectively gone.
Feeds also put a barrier between interest and action: platforms want users to stay in the app. On your own site, the next step is a form or a phone call you control.
The split that works for small businesses
Use social to show the work happening now: finished projects, before-and-afters, short explanations, customer questions you hear often.
Send that attention somewhere specific — a service page, a booking page, a single landing page built for one offer — instead of a generic homepage.
Then let the site do the closing: clear pricing signals, proof, and an easy way to get in touch.
